Monday 21st July 2025

Today is the last full day of the astrological month of Cancer. The Sun enters Leo tomorrow.
The Sun, Saturn+Neptune, Uranus and Pluto form 4 points of a hexagon for the remainder of July 2025. This suggets an eventful period.
11.37 The very rapidly waning Moon at 15 Gemini waning sextile Mercury at 15 Leo
18.24 The Moon conjunction Venus at 19 Gemini
19.53 The Moon at 20 Gemini waning square Mars at 20 Virgo.
The Moon is void of course for 16.6 hours
21.04 The Moon at 21 Gemini waxing squares her node from the high north.
21.32 The Moon reaches her balsamic phase. The procession to the New Moon now starts in earnest.
22.39 The Sun at 29 Cancer waxing novile Venus at 19 Gemini
23.11 The Sun at 29 Cancer waning sesuiquadrate Mercury at 15 Leo
STATE OF THE SKY. (ALL TIMES ON THIS SITE ARE GMT.)
The Sun today is at 29 degrees Cancer. There are 60 days to the September Equinox. Jupiter is also in Cancer. The Sun enters Leo tomorrow. Venus and Uranus are in Gemini. Mercury is now in his retrograde phase. We have passed the midway point between eclipse seasons and are approaching a Total Lunar Eclipse in 7 weeks time. Saturn and Neptune's unconsummated 'test of faith' conjunction, dominating most of 2025, was closest on July 14th and is exactly conjunct in Feb. 2026. So far it seems that Neptune in Aries is inducing social unease and Saturn in Aries is engendering 'war readiness'.
Mercury, Saturn, Neptune and Pluto are now retrograde. The remainder of July witnesses the Sun, Saturn+Neptune, Uranus and Pluto forming 4 points of a hexagon suggesting significant evens are at hand. A Venus, Mars, Lunar Node T-square is tightening, peaking on Wednesday, testing the robustness of human relationships over this day and the few days ahead
The New Moon in Leo on Wednesday is trine Saturn and Neptune, opposite Pluto and sextile Uranus. The elements Fire and Air dominate the occasion. This is a powerfully creative and transforming lunation. It burns strongly and is accompanied by dynamic planetary geometry.
MERCURY
Mercury entered Leo on June 26th as an evening star. He resides in this sign for a lengthy 66 days. His retrograde phase occurs during this residence but unusually there are no repeat aspects this time. It's rather an uneventful ride for the messenger of the Gods. Mercury entered his shadow on June 30th. Mercury slows to a halt and turned retrograde on July 18th at 16 degrees Leo. He is at Inferior Conjunction with the Sun at 9 Leo on July 31st. As a morning star Mercury turns direct at 4 Leo on August 11th. Mercury sextiles Mars on Aug 15th. Mercury leaves his shadow on Aug 25th. Mercury leaves Leo for Virgo on Sept 2nd. There you have it. A period of opinionated fixed communications. 'Generous to a fault-but no give'.
Mercury retrograde periods ahead.
Current one - July 18 to Aug 11, 2025
Nov 9 to Nov 29, 2025
Feb. 25 to Mar 20, 2026
Jun 29 to Jul 23, 2026
Oct 24 to Nov 13 2026
VENUS
Venus entered Gemini as a morning star on July 4th and resides here for a playful, busy and engaging 27 days. Venus squares Mars on Wednesday July 23rd, desert storms and shifting sands. Venus leaves Gemini for Cancer on July 31st. (She is square Saturn and Neptune on Aug 1st.) The remainder of July has a 'social levity' about it.
Venus' next retrograde period is the 41 day period from Oct 3rd to Nov 14th 2026 in Scorpio and Libra.
MARS
Mars entered Virgo on June 17th. He resides in this sign for a materially productive 53 days. Mars in Virgo is 'diligent practicality in action'. It favours good workmanship and strives for exactitude and perfection. Let's go with it. His residence here this time his mainly favourable. Mars squares Venus on July 23rd-testy. Mars moves on into Libra on August 6th and within 3 days scarily opposes Saturn and Neptune, but that's a story for another day. Mars is next retrograde from Jan 10th 2027 to April 1st 2027 in Leo/Virgo.
JUPITER
Jupiter is in Cancer from June 9th 2025 to June 30th 2026. Jupiter squared Saturn on June 15th and then squared Neptune on June 19th. He is retrograde from Nov 11th 2025 to March 11th 2026. Jupiter is exalted in Cancer. His energy is focused on 'the home' and the people, places, and memories that make us feel safe and secure. This one is 'the family way'. Jupiter in Cancer cares. Jupiter in Cancer 'expands home', it centres us on 'selfhood', our place, our world domain. It 'holds together' after the energetic flurry of Jupiter in Gemini. Jupiter in Cancer spreads peace. Not a bad thought in such a chaotic world right now.
SATURN
Saturn is retrograde in Aries. Saturn's first foray into Aries lasts from 25/5/25 to 1/9/25. After returning to Pisces for 5 months he finally settles in Aries on February 14, 2026. Saturn stations in Aries on July 13th 2025 at 2 degrees Aries. We are in for a three month 'taster' trip. New lessons on cutting out the nonsense, getting a grip on future plans, less drift, less emotion. Lean, mean and keen.
URANUS
Uranus first buzzed into Gemini on 7th July 2025. This is a big one. Uranus, the planet associated with radical change, technology and innovation, will enter the sign of Gemini on July 7 this year until May 22, 2033. A seven year global episode of invention, discovery, twists and radical inventions which change our lives lie ahead. Uranus's initial residence in this sign is from today July 7th 2025 to November 8th 2025. He returns here for a 6.25 year stay, leaving for Cancer on August 3rd 2032.
The two most recent transits of Uranus in Gemini include the US involvement in World War 2 (1941-1945) and the US Civil War (1861-1865). The transit of Uranus through Gemini from 1774-1782, includes the American Revolutionary War.
The last time Uranus entered Gemini was August 7th 1941. The previous 7 years to this, with Uranus in Taurus, (Hitler's Sun sign), had seen the great rise to power of this man. His Blitzkrieg war has resulted in his take over of much of western Europe including the Netherlands, Belgium, and northern France.
As Germany's invasion of the Soviet Union, known as Operation Barbarossa, was just 2 months underway, Uranus entered Gemini. The tide of the war turned.
Such is the dramatic quality, and 'turning power' of today's ingress.
As Uranus enters Gemini he completes the triad of Pluto in Aquarius, and Neptune in Aries. This last occurred in 1405 BC. According to some interpretations of biblical timelines, 1405 BC marks the end of the wilderness wanderings of the Israelites and the death of Moses, following the Exodus from Egypt. The decade of 1409-1400 BC includes the destruction of the Palace of Minos, the rise of Mycenaean civilization, and the shift of political and cultural power in the Aegean from Crete to mainland Greece.
Well there's more world history about to unfold this time around. Uranus in Gemini will air trine Pluto from 2026 to 2028.
NEPTUNE
Neptune first entered Aries on March 30th 2025. He is now retrograde in Aries.
PLUTO
Pluto re-entered Aquarius on Nov 19th 2024 and will remain there till the year 2043. He is currently retrograde.
Pluto was last in Aquarius from 1777 to 1798.
Uranus in Gemini will air trine Pluto from 2026 to 2028. This is the most exciting time ahead, astrologically speaking.
Saturn in Aries will sextile Pluto in 2026 and square Pluto 3 times during 2028-2029.

THE LUNAR STANDSTILL.
The Mean Lunar Node is in Pisces. We are (June/July 2025) past the climax of a Major Lunar Standstill. This is a period lasting for three years within the 18.6 year lunar nodal cycle. The last major lunar standstill centred on June 2006, and this current one was centred in January 2025. During these years we are observing extreme northerly and southerly lunar rising and setting points on the local horizon when the Moon is in tropical Gemini/Cancer or Sagittarius/Capricorn.
